Other Biographical Remarks: Maurice was born in poverty to a mother who was a woman of ill repute. By the age of seven, his mother had abandoned him, and he spent the rest of his childhood in an orphanage run by strict nuns. At the age of fourteen, he left the orphanage, encouraged to find an apprenticeship, but instead he got a job as a servant. After a few different servant jobs, he found himself at the Château de Vallois at the age of nineteen, where he found himself more steady employment. He’s now worked there for nine years and is a senior member of the household staff as the under-butler.
